I started working with Momentum Youth Conference when I graduated from college. That first summer I remember listening to a speaker in one of the sessions who addressed broken relationships. Here we are, 10 years later, and while I can’t remember the exact details of what he said, I can vividly remember what happened when the session wrapped up!
He talked about how fatherlessness or a strained relationship with a father can impact our relationship with our Heavenly Father. He invited anyone in the audience who hadn’t felt an embrace of a loving father to receive that. I was skeptical at first. Would these students be vulnerable to acknowledge a need for a loving father, whether on Earth or in a relationship with God?
But, with little delay, here came a boy, about 16 or 17 years old, down the aisle. He didn’t have any hesitation or fear. He just came right up to the speaker and with tears flowing, gave the speaker a hug! He melted into the embrace of an affirming, appropriate, loving father figure and recognized his need for his Heavenly Father.
It. Was. Incredible.
For me, that was the beginning of the overwhelming life change and impact I’ve seen happen at Momentum.
Every year I invest my time and energy in this role so that students will know about Momentum, and so that parents and churches will partner with us. We pray earnestly for you to know the impact that God can have in the lives of teens through just one week. It’s the one thing I know I can count on every year. God will show up!
He never fails. Year after year, He shows up in mighty ways! We pray and ask for Him to do so and He never disappoints. If you want to see the beginnings of a movement, come to Momentum. If you want to see what changed lives look like, come to Momentum. If you’re praying for your student to follow Jesus, partner with us and come to Momentum.
It’s an atmosphere that combines the power of God’s Word, the conviction of the Spirit, the shepherding of the local church, and how to walk in obedience to God’s leading. And on top of all of that, it’s a LOT OF FUN!
God never disappoints at the #bestweekofsummer. I can’t express that enough to you. Seeds are planted, foundations laid, truth spoken, and lives changed for Him. It’s our privilege to be a part of His work in the lives of students every summer!
