Praying over the Lansings and dedicating Urban Hope LA

Praying over the Lansings and dedicating Urban Hope LA

Sunday January 27th was an exciting day for CE National and the Charis Fellowship. The open house and dedication for the new Urban Hope Training Center in Los Angeles took place at the Norwalk Grace Brethren Church, where the training center will find its home.  See pictures on the CE National Facebook page.

Over 150 individuals from the LA area, as well as staff members from CE National, were in attendance. The event also highlighted other ministries of CE National including Urban Hope Philadelphia, the SUM (Students in Urban Ministry) program, City Life and Operation Barnabas summer ministry teams.

At the closing of the ceremony, local Charis Fellowship pastors and Ed Lewis, president of CE National, prayed over Timothy and Janine Lansing and their family and dedicated the new center. Timothy will serve as the director of Urban Hope LA. The Lansings are still in the process of raising necessary support. Would you prayerfully consider being a part of their support team? Please visit cenational.org/givenow for more information.

Following the event, guests were invited to enjoy cake and tour the facilities. Several rooms at the Norwalk Grace Brethren Church have been renovated to house visiting teams by providing sleeping quarters, a beautiful meeting space, and brand new bathroom/shower facilities. Bunk beds were donated by Grace College and were transported out earlier in the summer.

The first visiting team is due to arrive at the training center in February, with a goal of the center hosting 300 individuals by the end of the year. Groups will be trained in youth and children’s ministry, ministry to the disadvantaged, and given many opportunities to use “God talk” and share their testimony. The goal is that those who visit can gain practical ministry experience that they can take back home to their local churches and communities.

While things are coming along nicely, there are still several needs to accommodate visiting groups and provide materials needed for ministry. An Amazon wish list has been created to help fulfill several of these needs. Please consider helping.
