Jeff Bogue, president of CE National, talks about CE National’s response to Coronavirus.

“First of all, here at CE National, we trust in Christ and who He is and what He does for us. So when we look at a crisis and think about how that’s affecting us as groups and individuals, it’s never through a spirit of fear or reaction that we would make a decision, but rather one of wisdom and dealing with the reality of what’s happening around us.

“So in light of that, we want you to know what’s happening into the future. One of the decisions we’ve made is that we’re going to suspend trips to our Urban Hope Philadelphia and Urban Hope Los Angeles locations through the rest of March. The governor of California and governors on the East Coast as well are asking that people not group together in tight quarters because that seems to be where Coronavirus spreads the most easily. We want to cooperate with that and be a part of the solution. If you have a group scheduled, we’re going to contact you and help you reschedule later in the year. While we suspend those ministry trips for the next few weeks, we’re going to take both of those locations through a very deep cleaning to make sure that they are as clean and ready as possible so we can get back on mission and back to the work in those locations.

“Right now we are planning on having Momentum Youth Conference and Operation Barnabas. Everything we understand from our health professionals is that Coronavirus will have played itself out by the summer months. We’re still planning on continuing Operation Barnabas and, most certainly, still planning on hosting and having Momentum Youth Conference

“If you have individual questions about your church or individual questions about your student participating in those events, please feel free to contact the CE National office at 574.267.6622 or email cenational@cenational.org.

“I view this as a great opportunity for us to love our neighbors and make the name of Jesus famous. What a great opportunity to be beacons of hope in a time of fear and what a great opportunity to help those around us. If your schools are shut down or your churches aren’t able to meet, what a great opportunity to help the single parent who now doesn’t have child care or check in on the elderly person and see if you can run errands for them, or even just simply stop and pray with someone and speak hope into their lives. That’s what we mean by we’re not people of fear we’re people of wisdom. The reality is that this virus is a real thing that we need to approach with wisdom, but we look at that and say that’s a great opportunity to help Jesus make sense in people’s lives and to love them and serve them even as we go through this difficult and very unique time together as a country.

“If we can pray with you, if we can serve you in any way, please contact our offices. We would love to do that.

“I pray God blesses you as we continue to be ON MISSION and do what God has called us to do.”
