Pastor Plaster the Sinister Minister and other Happenings!

It was an awesome celebration this morning as all three OB '08 teams combined for ministry at GBC Columbus.  Our team was split into three groups for Sunday School, one making preparations for the afternoon carnival and two leading senior adult bible classes.  Ray and Jason each shared a brief sermon and the teams also did some skits, pantomimes, and testimonies.  The latter half of our time was spent singing and praying with the class.

The morning service started with an energetic rendition of "The Lord Reigns" (Helen played the piano for pre-session music).  Our team was also chosen to do "speech choir" and "Does Anybody Hear Her" in the combined service.  Jes shared a testimony of how the Lord used her to bring a young girl to Christ earlier in the week; Ray spoke about the call he feels toward full-time missions work.  They did a great job of confidently declaring the work of God in front of a large congregation of people!

In the afternoon, the Continental team rotated through various responsibilities involved with the outreach carnival being put on by the team, including a brief children's program.  TK addressed the entire group of OB students this evening in preparation for Momentum, which begins tomorrow morning.  The day ended with discipleship group meetings.  The students spent time writing a letter to themselves in light of what they believe Christ would address if he were to speak with them.  This was a really neat exercise as the Lord brought to surface some things among the students and broke them in a good way.

Praise God for answered prayer!  As we head into a different style of ministry during youth conference, pray that each student will remain focused on things of the Lord and will set the pace for the conference.

Blessings!

God is good and He is listening...

The team arrived safe and sound tonight at the GBC of Columbus. We rejoined the other two domestic teams for choir practice in preparation for an all-teams Sunday celebration tomorrow morning. It was great to see the students and leaders from the other teams and to catch up on the amazing things God has been doing in our midst.

Before reuniting with the other teams, we all got to take some time to pray and read through Scripture at the church. Nathaniel led a teaching time on the nature of worship. Then Sarah led a much needed choir practice (we haven't sung our songs for a program in almost two weeks). This time was a lot of fun for us as we got to just be together as a team and spend time making sure our focus was on the Lord. We are really excited for the things that will be going on tomorrow as we lead Sunday School and AM Service, as well as an outreach carnival taking place in the afternoon.

Keep the prayers coming! God is good and He is listening...

Blessings!

Out n about!!!

Getting crazy on four wheels.

Catching a boy mid fall.

Helping kids get around the rink.

United Skates of America (that's actually what the rink was called)

The Continental team enjoyed a "day off" today. We talked as a team about the difference between taking a day to rest and rejuvenate as opposed to taking a break from seeing and meeting the needs of people around us. We took the team to a skating rink for the afternoon and they did a great job of interacting with the younger kids who were there from various day camps. Jes and Hannah got to share the gospel with some young girls. A group of guys began praying for them and when they finished a high school age girl approached them and said, "I think it's so neat that you guys were just praying. My friends would never do something like that." They got the chance to talk with her and encourage her in her walk with the Lord!

Later in the day, we had a nice dinner at the Olive Garden. At least one table of students asked their server if they could pray for him, which they did. It was real encouraging from a leadership standpoint to see the team members staying on mission, even when we are taking a break from the programming aspect of ministry.

The night ended with ice cream and everyone playing "Underground Church." This is a game where students hide throughout the church and try to form a group of people into a "church." Meanwhile, the leaders are roaming around with flashlights trying to find them and put them in "jail." They cannot get out until they quote a Bible verse, so it is a good exercise in that regard as well. When we finished the game, the leaders took a couple minutes to talk with the team about the fact that persecution is a reality for many believers around the world and the students took a few minutes to pray for these brothers and sisters in Christ.

There are many good things happening, but also we continue to face adversity in the areas of health, transportation, etc. We are down to the last couple days 'til Momentum, so please pray for a strong "finish" (we don't actually finish until the week after conference).

Blessings!
