Sunny and Great!

Today was a great! This morning we had the opportunity to visit an elderly care facility. The team did a small program and then focused the rest of their time talking with the residents. It was neat to hear the stories as we loaded the bus back up. Some came back encouraged from conversations with believers that are longing for Jesus. Others walked away heart broken for the people who acknowledged they are going to hell and just don't care. In either case, valuable lessons of having hearts for Jesus and the lost were learned.

The afternoon was spent in Hagerstown City Park. The Atlantic team was there for about 3 hours doing various types of ministry. We did do a program there for about an hour which was well attended. It was great to be able to talk with people in the park and watch our kids do the same.

I regret to write that the pictures are still not working. I realize that there are several now that need to be posted and that many of you are anxiously waiting to see your children doing ministry. Please hold on for just another day.

RAIN KEEPS FALLING ON MY HEAD!

June 29

We woke up to dreary skies and rain... One of those days that when you are home, you would have just stayed in your pajamas! We instead had a great time of worship with song and prayer. We then dove into the Word, and learned about confrontation from Matthew 18. Amy K. led us through the steps of confronting, and how to apply it to our lives at home, and on ob.

We got the chance to play some team building games and watch a Moody 100 video. The kids were challenged by Bruce Wilkenson to develop more of a heart for God.

Since it was raining, some of our manual labor plans were changed. We instead had a chance to go the mall and hang out with the main purpose of talking to people. Satan really put up some big road blocks.... We had to trust that God was still in control and still had a plan for our day. Some of the kids were really frustrated because some of their conversations were cut short... but they walked out of the mall with a healthy burden for those who they didn't get to have conversations with or finish conversations.

The rest of the day was spent outdoors doing some small manual labor projects for the church, when the rain stopped... and then we had the opportunity to visit the park where we will be having a park program on Saturday. This is supposed to be a huge event, and the park is huge and beautiful, right in downtown Hagerstown. We are looking forward anxiously to what God has in store.

Please PRAY for us Saturday afternoon. We are praying specifically for lost souls to be drawn to the Lord and for the program logistics to go smoothly (sound, puppets, weather, etc)
Thank you again for your support...

LOVINGLY,

We are having some problems with getting email access. I am sorry that it has not been possible to post pictures recently. We are working on it, and someday soon, you will hopefully see a whole bunch of pictures from the past couple days. God bless.

BLESSED BY SUDS...

A family from one of the GBC's graciously gave our team free laundry on our way down to Hagerstown, MD. Doy and Joy left such an impression on us by their willing hearts to give from what they have.

When all the suds were gone, and we loaded up the bus again, we ran a few more errands and headed to the church to get briefed. From there we headed out to the neighborhood around the church and passed out flyers for the upcoming park programs.

We prayed all day for the weather to hold off for our program that night... and it did!!! It was so awesome to see God answer our small prayers. The rain held off until the last song was literally over. WOW! We were rushed to get our equipment out of the rain!

The rest of the evening we spent in team time and teaching. Tim challenged us in the area of forgiveness. Many of our students were stretched to look into their hearts.

May God's peace be with you. Please keep us in your prayers.

Wednesday, June 27, 2007 And the SWEAT DRIPPED DOWN, and the THUNDER ROLLS

Today, in the hot weather, and thick humidity, we worked at many different locations. Some groups mulched, pulled weeds, stained decks, worked on VBS stuff, split wood, and mowed lawns.

We worked with many people from Harvest Community Church. We worked on outside projects for people who worked, or just couldn't do it alone. It was a great way to connect with the church people and serve them.

Later in the evening, we shared in a block party with the church, and were able to do a program. Lots of members from the church, who hosted our students were there to support their "kids".

Even though the day was hot, and we worked hard, it was all worth it, because we continued to make connections and build relationships with the people we were serving all week. We prayed that the rain would hold off, and it did! As the last students were picked up, the rains came down.... God answers prayers.... even small details.

The host homes were delighted to have the students and spoiled them. We really have felt at home.

THANK YOU AGAIN HARVEST COMMUNITY!

June 26, 2007 ob takes over local Police Department and Township Maintenance

OBers worked all day at 3 different businesses this morning. The Miracle House was cleaned, the police cars, ambulances, and the police chief's car was cleaned, mulch was spread on a local baseball diamond, and a park was cleaned up. Our students worked hard, and got finished a lot faster than expected. The head of the departments were pleasantly surprised, and impressed with the students.

Eric, Brandon, Alan, Trevor, Nikole, Courtney, Ashley, Christie, Candace, and Beth visited Longwood Manor today to do a program for the residents. They were in charge of an hour-long presentation. They mingled, did puppets (which the residents loved), skits, and showed them the cross illustration. The residents really enjoyed the cross illustration and even attempted to learn it. It was a great experience for the OBers to learn how to run a program, as well as, how to minister to people older than themselves.

This evening we had a chance to have a pool party with the youth group. It was such a God thing. The hostess of the party, actually has an amazing ministry, which we learned about when we got there, and Anita Keagy got to share with the teens about her heart and her story. Her testimony left a deep mark on all the teens' hearts as they walked away from the evening. A blessing in disguise.... She gave every student a journal and the gospel of John as they left to encourage them in their walk... WOW!!! THANKS ANITA!

THANKS to all those at Harvest Community Church for all you have provided and done for us! We are excited to spend tomorrow with you!

Monday, June 25, 2007 A swarm of red, blue, and yellow flood Maytown

This morning, was refreshing and a reminder of how God's creation can quench our thirst for God. We spent an hour on an overlook that had a spectacular view of the Susquehanna River. There we had some teaching time, as well as, time with God alone.

The morning was a good change after the busy day on Sunday. We had the chance to make some contacts for the Harvest Church by hanging door hangers on the houses around the neighborhood. It was a chance for our students to talk to people who were outside and be stretched.

Kelsey, Andy, Carli, Casey, Ben, Steph, Nate, Cari, Emily, and McKenna had the chance to visit Longwood Manor and assist some senior saints. Casey did a great job calling Bingo. Emily got to read to a lady for awhile, while Steph took another lady for a walk.

This evening we went back to Lititz to help their opening VBS night. Our students did a great job greeting the kids, helping with snacks, following the kids to their classes, and mingling with the adults. Candace had some really neat opportunities and shined tonight, while working with the kids.

We are having a great time here! This is an amazing opportunity for our students. Keep praying for opportunities and that our students will have the answer for the questions about their faith.

We have some more great chances to get our hands dirty for people in the community Tuesday. Thanks for your prayer and support.

First Day of Tour, Sunday, June 24

Church, Rodeo, Park Programs.... A BLAZIN' day of ministry.

We started out at Harvest Community Church in Maytown, PA. We had an amazing service, where the students were able to mingle, pray with members of the church, and lead the congregation in singing and worship.

On to Lititz, where the big RODEO was taking place. Our team had face painting, candy scramble, and program responsibilities.  We had a great opportunity to talk to people and plant seeds, and represent Grace Community Church.

Back to Maytown for a block party in the Village Commons. This was a chance for the neighborhood to gather together in one place and hang out. We provided a program to entertain the children, we played games with them and got the chance to share the cross illustration.

After a beautiful day, we finally got the chance to go back to host homes and enjoy fellowship with members of the Harvest Church.

We'll be in Maytown until early Thursday morning......
