Day One
What a fantastic start. Day one of Operation Barnabas each summer is always an exciting time as teens travel from all over the country and the world to be trained and practice ministry in hopes of going home and continuing this mind set.
We now have all of the teens (except for the four who are getting picked up in the next hour or so). Some of these teens have been up for over 24 hours and are now sound asleep--totally whooped. They have came with a great spirit and have been totally enjoyable to be around.
Operation Barnabas is the largest equipping ministry in the entire Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, no holds barred. People outside of the FGBC are now interested in participating in OB and I couldn't be more pleased. Ministry training and equipping does not know the bounds of denominations and it is needed now more than ever.
This is the 35th year of training OB teens and the total of young people involved through the years is now over 3,000. You can trace a lot of pastors, missionaries, para-church and church leaders to involvement in OB.
I honestly believe this is the greatest summer opportunity any teen who is seeking God could participate in. I credit families for their courage in allowing their teen to participate and be away from them for 7 weeks. And I feel sorry for too many people who think this is just a "nice thing" for some teens to do when the entire program is focused on ministry, servant-leadership, and evangelism--three concepts that most churches I know need desperately.
100 teens sharing their faith all summer and learning to put others before self? That deserves some attention and needs more press from those who can write and publish anything about it!

Hello, my name is Amy Smith from Pennsylvania. My daughter, Laura, is one of the OBers this year. This morning when we all woke up without her, her younger siblings were feeling pretty sad. So, we decided to make a paper chain with a link for each day she'll be gone. We also wrote a prayer request on each link. I think it will be awesome for us all to watch the chain shrink and to have a good reminder to pray for her each day. I, like Brenda, enjoyed seeing the pictures and reading a little bit about her day. Thanks for all your work, TK.

TK and all the other leaders; thank you so much for your impact on this generation and your impact on our daughter, Julia. We are praying for you all (no, I'm not from the south yet) and I know God is going to do some great things this summer. God bless and we look forward to hearing all the great things God does in and through each of you. Sandy and I just wish we were there to see it all first hand. We love you and we will see you at the other end of the summer tour in Columbus, Ohio.

Praise the Lord! Thank you for the info and the pictures -- it is a blessing to have this connection when we are so far away. We are praying for all of you and especially today for diesel fuel. :) God bless.

Thank you so much for having this website to go to. My son Robbie is an OBer too this summer and it did my heart good to see a picture of him and his team. He was so exited when he called home. My thought and prayers will be with all of you on this wonderful journey the Lord has called you to do.
Blessings-

This website is wonderful. Thank you so much for having this here where I can see what my daughter is doing from day to day. This is the first year for her and the first time she has ever been away from home. It was great to see her in some of the pictures with a smile on her face. It is hard for her dad and I to not have her here with us, but we know that she will come home even more wonderful than when she left. I pray for everyone to have safe trips, for their hearts to be open, and for fuel prices as you travel. Thanks to all for all your hard work!
