Well Shut My Mouth

I have a friend who has shared with me some "southern slang". It always made we laugh when he would say it with a slight drawl. Things like, "Well shut my mouth!" or when he called someone a "slack-jawed yokel". Not sure that is spelled correctly and surprisingly the blog spell check was not of much help...

This week I had one of those "Well shut my mouth" kind of moments. I am surprised at the number of people who just in the last few days told me that they read my blog. ( I was also admonished to post an entry more often.) To think that you are interested in something that I write is kind of surprising to me. My random thoughts and ideas? Honestly, I am honored and humbled by it as the people I found out who read it I think are really sharp individuals (So I guess that means that if you are reading this that I think you are a really sharp individual. :-))

So much changes in the world... That people can read my thoughts on a blog, that phones are no longer confined to a wall at my house with a cord, that I can have all of my records (and cassettes and 8 tracks) in one little contraption that fits easily into my pocket.

And then there are things that do not change. That people need love and relationships. That God's Word really makes a difference in people's lives if it is learned and applied (as compared with just learned). That sharing our faith --by whatever means or method--brings about spiritual growth for the one who shares (Philemon 6-7). That people who live a life of ministry --whether as a vocational thing or as a way of life--are an absolute joy to be around. Because they live like Jesus--putting others before self. I like being around those kinds of people.

These are just some random thoughts for the week that may not be very deep or thought provoking. But they are life changing and life enhancing for those that live that way. And I am thankful for my wife and kids, friends, and co-workers at CE National, TNI and Community Grace. They are all a joy to be around as they really do exhibit Jesus first, Others second and the "Yourself" last.
