The New School Year

I thought I would be able to keep up with blogging once a week. At least for this summer, that has proven more difficult than I first believed!

These last two weeks have been a whirlwind. 412 teaching, elder meetings, youth group and SS, National Institute advising and starting courses. But I am coming out of it very excited about teens I get to work with as well as a dynamic group of collegiates.

We had the annual National Institute Kick Off Dinner last night. there was buzz amongst the group--one we haven't had for a while. About 60 people came for dinner and everyone met new freshman and saw one another after being away for the summer. Interns shared of their experiences. Neat time. It was the first Kick Off Event at our new Russell Center.

Right after dinner I met with the new Foundations and Philosophy of Youth Ministry class. Mostly freshmen, but a few others too. What a great spirit! This is going to be a great class. And I'm excited that there are about 35 in the Evangelism and Discipleship class on Monday nights.

The Community Grace Youth Ministry is ready to take off too. Our goal is to "go fish' for Jesus! I honestly think that teens understand the need to reach people who do not yet know Jesus more than adults do.

And maybe that is why--while I'm physically tired from the lat two weeks--I am incredibly encouraged about the school year ahead.
