| Day Away North of 55 Events Coming to Florida | |||||||||||
If you are “north” of 55 years old and live in Florida, you have TWO opportunities to be involved in a Day Away. The first will be January 11, 2007, in Port Richey at the Gulfview Grace Brethren Church. The second will be held January 12 at the Sebring Grace Brethren Church. My heart praised God as I heard my good friend, Jonathan Carey (Ellet, OH), share an idea that has impacted his church, community, and the world. Jonathan received $50 from a distant relative for a family funeral he had done. He didn’t feel comfortable taking the money and using it personally. At the same time, he was mulling a conclusion to a message he was giving on service and using resources to reach people for Christ. He decided to break the $50 bill into 50, $1 bills. At the conclusion of his message, he gave each family in his church a $1 bill and challenged them to pray, work together, and figure out how to maximize that buck for God’s glory. |
