OB Students Experience Skid Row

Students at Skid Row
Praying to Receive Christ

Thousands of homeless individuals gathered amongst the poorest streets of Los Angeles to participate with our students in a ministry known as WOW JAM (Winning Our World). This organization set up several tents throughout the streets, including stations where people could receive free haircuts, face painting, nail painting, baby rocking, popsicles, bottled water, and much more. Several of our students participated in face painting, security, and make-up, which gave them all great opportunities to build relationships with those living on the streets. Every individual who entered the free event received a free meal and heard the gospel.

OBI Orientation--Focus on Prayer

The focus of Operation Barnabas International on Wednesday was prayer, and God is really bringing the team together. Through prayer they are learning true dependence on God's plans, not their own.

More choir and drama practice were also part of the day. Myra Taylor, Grace Brethren International Missions and former missionary to the Central African Republic, shared about cross-cultural differences. Then the group had dinner with a local family and had the Hockings, former missionaries, join them. The team had a "team only" meeting in the evening and turned in early to get a full night's sleep. Operation Barnabas 2009 Orientation Location Set

Operation Barnabas is pleased to announce that its 2009 orientation will be held at the Grace Brethren Church in Powell, Ohio. You may be saying, "Isn’t OB orientation just finished for the 2008 teams?" If that is your question, then you are correct! It takes a great deal of time and energy to plan for an event where over 100 people live for over ten days and are trained in ministry for an intense 5 week tour, so we try to plan ahead as much as possible.
