A Life-Changing Experience--Catch it on Operation Barnabas!

Operation Barnabas
Mike praying with an OBer

As Operation Barnabas staff and leaders plan each summer tour, we pray that there will be a tremendous spiritual life-changing impact, not only at the various ministry locations the OB team visits, but also in the lives of the individual OB team members.
Mike Pumphrey, Senior Leader of the 2007 Potomac team, says that he saw many students on his team experience life change throughout the six week Operation Barnabas tour. One of the things that Mike and his wife Connie were amazed and blessed by was the deep hunger and thirst for God’s Word that developed in a number of students throughout the summer. Read more...

See You At the Pole

On September 26, 2007, young people all around the world will gather at their school flagpoles to meet for prayer.

Not only is this a prayer meeting; but it is also an opportunity to witness to the whole school population about your relationship to the Lord Jesus Christ and your commitment to be His light in your school. "See You at The Pole" began in 1990 and has been a yearly event since then giving students an opportunity to take a stand for the Lord at their school. Many young people have shared how being involved in this event has opened doors for sharing Christ with friends and teachers.

You can find out more information about this event and how you can even lead an event at your school at www.syatp.com.

Samuel

Halftime in Dallas Center, Iowa

Middle adults need to continue to be involved in ministry. If they do not "catch" ministry, they will buy into a materialistic philosophy of life that is often self-centered. "I want MY music, I want you to meet MY needs, I want you to give attention to ME."

As a result, the Halftime Cabinet is piloting a weekend program where middle adults go to a church with the purpose of serving that church and getting other adults involved in the same process. During these weekends the adult teams will join other adults from the church to do manual chores, visit people, and hand out flyers. There will be a Friday and Saturday evening program centered on dealing with issues that middle adults face and getting adults to share their testimonies of what God is doing in their lives. This is important because if people do not get used to verbalizing their testimonies they may not pass their legacy on to future generations.

This weekend a group of twelve people will go to Dallas Center, Iowa, where they will minister Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. The group will lead the Sunday morning service and Sunday School by sharing testimonies and leading music. There will also be split sessions for men and women and a challenge to the congregation to reach out to others.

If this weekend proves effective it is the Halftime Cabinet's intent to see other groups pick up this concept.
