Momentum 2008 Theme Announced

The theme for Momentum 2008 is "I Care", taken from Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

What God wants from believers isn’t some mysterious, hard thing, like trying to repay Him for the pardon of our sins. What He wants us to do is simple: to be just, acting fairly toward others and treating them how we would want to be treated; to love to be merciful, like God has been merciful to us; to walk humbly with Him, remembering who He is and what He has done for us. What He requires isn’t difficult. He simply wants us to CARE about people like He does.

412 Students Give Program an A+

Motivating a Church to Reach the Lost

Bob Shoemaker, a member of the Canton Grace Brethren Church in Canton, Ohio, asked Ed Lewis, Executive Director of CE National, to come to their church to challenge the congregation about the need for outreach and building relationships with non-believers.

In preparation for Ed to speak in the church, the congregation began a "Target 3" program to pray for 3 people who are not yet believers. The congregation spent long periods of time in prayer that God would use the Sunday Ed spoke as a catalyst for evangelism. Read more...

Day Away Worthington--a Great Success

Around 100 people came to learn about Opportunities Unlimited at the Worthington, Ohio Day Away—North of 55 on October 6. The event, planned by Dan Hammers and a committee from the Grace Brethren Church of Columbus in Worthington, Ohio, featured sessions on leaving a legacy and understanding your grand kids' world and a final challenge by Ed Lewis and Jim Custer on exercising your faith. Convoy of Hope Reports on Momentum's Impact on Mississippi

Convoy of Hope has a great article on their website reporting on the impact of Momentum students in Mississippi.

How large of an impact can 2,000 teenagers have on two cities in southern Mississippi in just six days?

When Hurricane Katrina hit land in August of 2005, the coastal communities of Gulfport and Pearlington were drowned in storm surge that reached heights of 12 feet, as far as one quarter mile inland. The devastation caused was unimaginable.
