Operation Barnabas Teams Have Been Announced

Door-to-door
Learning how to
become a clown

Rosters and itineraries for the three Operation Barnabas teams are now posted at www.OperationBarnabas.net.

The week of orienatation is going well and is nearly complete. Timothy Kurtaneck, Director of Operation Barnabas and Sherilyn Rank, Coordinator, are grateful to Grace Church, Lititz, Pennsylvania, for hosting the nearly 100 students plus leaders in their facilities.

Each of the three teams will be visiting the Urban Hope Training Center in inner-city Philadelphia. This will be an opportunity for students to already begin using the skills they are learning during orientation.

This Sunday each team will be ministering in Lancaster County area churches for their morning services and then participating in Grace Church's Outreach Rodeo. This unique event will utilize the training and programs that all three Operation Barnabas teams have been learning during the week of orientation.

Please pray for the rodeo this Sunday, that many in the Grace Church area will be impacted for Christ. Also, pray for the Operation Barnabas teams as they look forward to tours starting this Monday.

CE National At Equip '07

Equip '07 is a one-week program of continuing education for the whole family. Classes have been designed to help Christians of all ages, genders, and experiences to advance their readiness for life and for ministry.

Here is how CE National will participate in Equip '07.

New Leader Reception

On Sunday, July 29, from 5:30-6:45, CE National will host a reception at the Russell Center for any new leaders, including pastors, spouses, and friends who are new to the Grace Brethren Fellowship or Equip. The reception will include a light meal and people will be able to see an overview of CE National ministries.

Picnic, Open House, and Corporation Meeting

The CE National Corporation meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 1st, at the Equip '07 adult conference. There will be a picnic style dinner outside starting at 4:45 with the meeting immediately following inside CE National's Russell Center. The meeting will end around 6:30 pm with dessert. Tickets for the dinner will be on sale through the Equip '07 website.

Young Adult Round Table

If you are interested in, or are currently operating, a young adult ministry, join us for an informal Dialogue on Young Adults, Thursday night from 7-8:30 pm at the Russell Center on the CE National campus, as we share methods of reaching, mentoring and assimilating young adults. The evening will include a time of discussion led by several people currently involved in college-age ministries, as well as a time for others to share their experiences. It will include light refreshments. We hope you’ll join us!

An Organized Way To Pray For Our Youth

YouthNet encourages churches to participate in the prayer emphasis that will take place this September in many churches across America.

Praying
Pray21 is more than a national campaign to pray for our youth. It is a 21-Day National Movement created for teens and adults to pray together to discover their place in the cause of Jesus Christ. The mission is critical... and the rewards are great. Go to www.Pray21.org to find out more.

Hmmm... Ideas for Keeping a Healthy Relationship with Your Kids

This is part of an article entitled "Juggling the Priority of Church and Kids", Willow Magazine, Spring 2007.

  1. Schedule weekly times to have fun together.
  2. Eat at least four meals together each week.
  3. Plan a regularly scheduled monthly date with your child.
  4. Plan family vacations that enrich and replenish your relationships.
  5. Create healthy boundaries with the church calendar and family calendar.
  6. Show your kids that your spouse is a major priority.
  7. Have spiritual family times that are short, fun, and enjoyable.
  8. Make sure your children receive special benefits for being pastor’s kids. (Take them on a trip, let them play hide and seek in the sanctuary).
  9. Spend less time complaining about the church in front of your children.
  10. Ask your children for ideas about the church. Children support what they help create.

Atheists and Agnostics Take Aim at Christians

A new evangelistic movement has emerged in America, yet this effort does not spring from those loyal to a particular faith or religious view.

The new evangelists are atheists. People who have determined there is no God or who doubt his existence (a group commonly known as agnostics) are adopting a more aggressive, intentional effort to discredit the notion that God exists and to critique people of faith. Widely reviewed new books such as The God Delusion and God is Not Great represent this movement.
