Many Hammers Make Light Work
	The sound of hammers filled the air on Monday as students worked to pound in the hundreds of nails required to build a home. Every day during Momentum, more than 500 students board buses in Hattiesburg for the southern Mississippi communities of Gulfport and Pearlington, both at least an hour ride away. Read more...

The Hattiesburg BLITZ!!!

The Blitz

More than 1,300 students and adults from Momentum fanned out across the city of Hattiesburg today (Wednesday) for the annual Blitz.

The Blitz is a day of “acts of kindness” that focus on sharing the love of Christ with the community.

“This has been good,” said Andy Parker, arborist for the City of Hattiesburg. A group of teens from Pennsylvania and Indiana had just finished weeding a plot of 600 potted trees in the nursery. Read more and see pictures.

Ray and Sharon Feather--Wall of Honor Recipients

During the Momentum staff meeting Tuesday morning, Ray and Sharon Feather were given the Wall of Honor award. The Feathers were honored for their significant impact to our churches in the area of Bible Quizzing.

To be considered for the Wall of Honor, an individual or couple, through their connection with CE National, should have had a significant influence upon others by their ministry, equipping others to serve, including a special emphasis in church ministries. Significant influence should include one or more of the following:

providing ministry training
training others in evangelism
providing acts of service to the organization
involvement in encouragement
discipling others
modeling a godly Christian life

Momentum 2008--Coming to 2 Sites

Tentative plans have been made for two youth conferences in 2008. Momentum West is scheduled for Southern California beginning Tuesday, June 24 and ending Sunday June 29. A Convoy of Hope outreach is planned for Saturday, June 28 focusing on the homeless.

Momentum East is tentatively scheduled for Cedarville, Ohio, beginning on Monday, July 21 and ending Sunday morning, July 27. This event would also include a Convoy of Hope outreach on Saturday, July 26.

The Convoy of Hope outreach would allow students to participate in distributing food, children's games, a carnival and a prayer tent. Free dental checkups and hair cuts will also be part of the event.

The strengths of Momentum youth conference are solid Bible teaching and motivation, cutting edge methodology, an emphasis on the local church and hands-on ministry opportunities.

Momentum Applied (MAP)--Short-Term Ministry Experiences

MAP are week-long or less opportunities for young people and adults to do ministry. Some of these ministries will be in cooperation with Convoy of Hope where free food would be distributed to third-world countries utilizing the countries local churches.

These opportunities include

Feeding the poor in Cambodia and Africa
Building homes in Mississippi (hurricane relief)
AIDS, Homeless, and Mercy Ministries in San Francisco, CA
Ministries to rural communities in Appalachia
Metropolitan/urban ministries to children, the poor in Philadelphia and New York City
Sports outreach and training in northern Indiana utilizing various outreach methods
