Momentum Is Coming!!! |
Students and adults from all over the world will gather a week from Saturday at the University of Southern Mississippi for the opening session of Momentum 2007. Please be in prayer for God to do an amazing work in the lives of all who attend. You can sign up to pray for a specific event at a specific time by going to the At Momentum Conference website. This site is also where you'll find daily reports and pictures as conference unfolds. Consider getting others onboard from your church for this prayer sign-up through your bulletin, small groups, ABF classes and other groups. By July 18 the Momentum office will be set up in Hattiesburg. If you have questions after July 18, please call the Momentum office at 601.266.5971. In Addition: look for updates on conference during this final week before it all begins Saturday, July 21. Check the momentum web site (www.buildmomentum.org) for postings of the various schedules of Momentum, including: Daily Schedules Also, registrants should receive several emails this week concerning areas like registration, arrival, Saturday's schedule, a packing list, and housing assignments. |
Operation Barnabas Receives and Gives Encouragement |

Receives Encouragement Operation Barnabas teams are trained to be an encouragement in ministry throughout the summer and when they get back home. However, it was a recent laundry trip that brought encouragement to one of our OB teams. Doy and Janet Sneckenberger, owners of the Clean and Bright Laundromat in Hagerstown, Maryland, offered the free use of their laundry facility for any of our Operation Barnabas teams that come through the area. Tammy Wiggins, Director of MorningStar Christian Daycare, Preschool & Kindergarten at Grace Church, Lititz, Pennsylvania, had this to say to Timothy Kurtaneck (TK), Operation Barnabas Director, after a recent visit from an Operation Barnabas team. "I had a parent of a brand new MorningStar child (she just started this week) comment on ‘how refreshing it is to see the teens/young adults all over our lawn having devotions and praying every day.’ She said, "It was so much easier leaving my child in a new environment knowing that your testimony spills out even onto your front lawn." Thanks, TK, for ministering to our families in the simple ways, too!" |

The First National Bible Quiz Invitational |
|
The first National Bible Quiz Invitational will take place on the weekend of November 30-December 2 in the Russell Center at CE National. This invitational is a way to encourage students to participate in Bible Quizzing during the year and is open to teams from any church. The day will include play-offs, challenges, and seminars for students. The weekend could be a new start to get students studying and memorizing the Bible. The materials for Bible Quizzing during the 2007-2008 year are John 1-12 and Revelation 1-6. |

North of 55 Cabinet to Meet in Chicago |
The North of 55 Cabinet will meet in Chicago (Naperville) during September to attend a seminar on how to stimulate older adults to have effective ministries. The conference is planned by CASA, an organization committed to encourage local church ministries to older adults. The conference, called “God’s Plan for Significance,” will take place September 14-15. CE National is encouraging the North of 55 Cabinet to attend. |

Rex and Darlene |
Rex and Darlene Kidder have recently resigned from their faithful volunteer status at the Urban Hope Training Center in Philadelphia. Rex began there almost 9 years ago and has been faithful in evangelism, small group Bible studies, and discipleship. As a result of his ministry at Urban Hope, Rex became acquainted with Darlene, who was also a valuable team member. God led them to get married and used them as a couple to have an even broader ministry to the people of the Kensington area. |
The Kidders will join the First Grace Brethren Church of Philadelphia where Rex's brother, Shawn, is Senior Pastor. God is providing a house for them near the church and they will be able to maintain their jobs in Philadephia. While at Urban Hope, they lived at the Urban Hope apartments, which are available for staff members at a reasonable rate. Thank you, Rex and Darlene, for your ministry. The Urban Hope staff and CE National recognize you for your faithfulness and pray that God will bless your new ministries. |

Are Older Believers Really 'In' the Church--Or Are They Detached? |
A trend in most churches is to meet the needs of younger adults because we are seeing such huge needs in our society where young adults are not involved in church. As a result, many churches have targeted this group through music, worship style, and programming. This is commendable because there are so many non-believers in this age group and we are seeing young people leave the church by the hundreds of thousands. Read more... |

A weekend for middle adults is planned September 7-9, 2007. The weekend will be an opportunity for adults to minister in Iowa.
