Students Talk About the 412 Commission Metro Tour |
Recently, the 412 Commission students participated in a Metropolitan tour. They spent time in Philadelphia at the Urban Hope Training Center and in New York City visiting Metro Ministries, an Albanian Church Plant and the Brooklyn Tabernacle. Then the team went on to minister in Virginia. Read more about the tour...
Below are students' testimonies of the impact that the trip had on them.
| |
Daniel Dywer
"I learned a lot about myself and things in my life I need to work on."
|
| |
Valerie Foster
"Our east coast trip was awesome! I was able to open up a little bit more to my teammates."
|
| |
Jenny Gowen
"The two-week trip was amazing. I saw many examples of true female leadership. I loved talking and working with the homeless."
|
| |
Ben Jefferies
"Through this trip I saw God break my heart for the lost. He gave me a profound passion for the inner city and how the church has ignored the need to reach people even in their own community."
|
| |
Erik Jensen
"God has really shown me how a person in a position that God has gifted them in can really make a huge impact in their communities, and how He always knows what He's doing."
|
| |
Didi Lachet
"On our East Coast trip, God really broke my heart for people who live in urban communities. Most of the people in the world live in the big cities and so we must go where the lost are."
|
| |
Jordan Polsdorfer
"These two weeks of traveling were awesome. I learned so much. But the one thing that I would say that I learned the most would be how to have more of a heart for the lost."
|
| |
Jenelle Ritchey
"While on this trip, I was amazed at the amount of diversity in the culture that is shared in the body of Christ. My eyes were opened to the 'real world' and not just my small town upbringing."
|
| |
Kara Schaffer
"WOW! before we left I asked God to break my heart for the inner city, but He definitely had different plans for our two-week trip. I learned a lot about myself and that I must find my strength in Christ and Christ alone. "...For when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Cor. 12:10)"
|
| |
Chris Springer
"God used this trip to really stretch me. He showed me sin in my life I didn't know about and broke my heart more for people."
|
| |
Kyle Strickland
"I have learned that God must first work in me! My job is to be willing and ready to have my heart transformed!!"
|
| |
John Waris
"The trip was an awesome experience, but so much more than that, God really moved and taught me in so many ways I never expected. God is truly amazing!

MAP Teams--A Chance to Serve |

If You're Not Fishing, You're Not Following! |
During his message at Momentum 2007, Jim Brown encouraged students not to repel non-Christians but to continually be fishing for men. Jim shared a similar theme when he spoke to DRIVEN and Equip 07. We at CE National are very pleased to see this emphasis on outreach. Jim is a board member of CE National, as well as Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church in Goshen, Indiana.
Jim created a blog for people to tell stories about sharing their faith, "moving the numbers" to get people closer to Christ. Jim says that most people need seven gospel touches before they become believers. So when we share our faith it moves people one number closer to actually accepting Christ. Go to www.igo08.blogspot.com to share your story.

Reader's Theater, Children's Ministry Teacher, and Clowning are only a few of the many events students can participate in through the Oratory category.
Original Arts
Creative Writing, Photography, even Original Web-Design and more fall under the Original Arts category.

Winter Tune-up--A Free 4-Part Series for Youth Groups |
Looking for help with your youth group for January or February? "Winter Tune-up" is a 4-part series designed to run in January or February. These lessons will help bring your youth group out of the winter slump.
Winter is a time when many youth groups need a tune-up, because it can be a down time emotionally for students. They're tired of being cooped up in school and are
rapidly getting their fill of tests and homework. They have the "school blahs." Too often the
school blahs tend to flow over into church life: attitude toward God, the Word, youth
leaders, and each other. It's too easy to get lazy with God and impatient and insensitive to
each other.
This 4-part series is a biblical look at six key ingredients for any youth group serious about growth, serious about making an impact for Christ in their community and schools. So, the application part of each meeting is extra important -- it does no good to know what needs to happen in your group; we have to get serious about attitudes and actions that will make it happen.
