Urban Hope Celebrates Christmas

The team at Urban Hope reports on the positive impact the Thanksgiving Dinner Outreach project is having on the surrounding community. The team members are following up with the households that received the meals and are encouraged by the positive responses to the evangelistic video given with the meals.

Last week, Brent Saba, visited in a home where the man said, "I can't be live you just knocked on my door." The man had just called out to his "higher power," saying, "If there is a God, please send someone to me to help." Just then Brent and Alex knocked on the door. The two shared Jesus with the man and had prayer with him concerning the issues he was facing in his life. The man's response was overwhelming, because it was a direct answer to his cry for help. It is another reminder of how important the ministry at Urban Hope is to the community. Read more and see pictures...

Operation Barnabas--Not Just For One Summer

Rebekah

This month, CE National is sending letters to students who have been accepted to participate in Operation Barnabas this coming summer. This thirty-fifth group of teens, joins over 3,500 other alumni who have received large packets in the mail that will lead to the "hardest and best summer" of their young lives.

But the main goal of OB isn't just one summer. It has to do with the long term idea that people share their faith and live it out, not just during the summer on OB but for their whole lives.

Rebekah Holbrook is just one example of an OB alum who understands this. Read more...

Two Day Away Events Set For Florida

Two Day Away events have been set in Florida, one on Monday, January 7, at the Gulfview Grace Brethren Church in Port Richie, Florida, and the other on Tuesday, January 8 at the Grace Brethren Church in Sebring, Florida.

Join Ed Lewis, from CE National, who will emcee for the two events, which will include times of informal sharing, singing, challenges, and testimonies. Ed will share how to build relationships with others and to serve them. The events will also include participating in ministries such as visiting nursing home residents, reading to pre-school children, and sharing a personal testimony on audio tape for family members. This fun and practical "hands-on" Day Away offers new options and opportunities for participants to impact others.

Registration for both events will begin at 9:30 a.m., with the program will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., after lunch at a local restaurant. Your only cost will be your lunch (under $10 per person). It is requested that you pre-register at least one week in advance, by contacting Lois at cenational@cenational.org or calling 574.267.6622. Be sure to mention which event you will attend.

Canton GBC Helps Pearlington Recover

The Grace Brethren Church in Canton, Ohio, is sending a work team back to Pearlington, Mississippi to work on homes that students from Momentum youth conference started last July. The group will be staying in the bunkhouses of the Pearlington Recovery Center.

"One of the homes we've been asked to take on is one that our youth group worked on during Momentum. The Lord willing, we are going to be able to finish it and hand Mr. Miller the keys. How cool is that!" says Bob Shoemaker, leader of the group.

Renovating porches and roughing in electrical work will also be on the agenda for the team, made up of two women, two teens, and seven men. One of the men is the owner of a Hartville, Ohio, construction company.

The group leaves for Mississippi on Saturday, January 19th and returns on the 27th.

CE National was blessed to have Jeremiah and Marcie Olson of 40 Miles North for the annual staff Christmas dinner.

The combination of great, worshipful music with a splash of humor, made for a wonderful evening of celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus.
