First Annual Bible Quiz Invitational

We've had a good response from churches interested in attending the first National Bible Quiz Invitational. The event will be held the weekend of November 30-December 2 in the Russell Center at CE National. This is a way to encourage students to participate in Bible Quizzing during the year. The event is open to teams from any church district or interested individuals.

Scott Feather will be the main host for the Invitational weekend, which will include play-offs, challenges from the passages being studied, and seminars for students. Quizzing at this session will be over John 1-8 and attendees should have studied those chapters prior to coming.

The weekend will be a new start to get students studying and memorizing the Bible.

CE National Hosts National Youth Ministries Conference

Last year a number of YouthNet members and National Institute students attended this conference in Sandusky, Ohio. We encourage Grace Brethren youth workers to come to Winona Lake in January to attend.

CE National is working closely with the leaders of Vision For Youth because our philosophies are very similar. In fact, Tim, Mel and Cheryl Fawcett were all a part of Momentum 2007, serving as seminar leaders and resource people for both youth and youth workers. Their expertise was a great asset to our conference.

Momentum 2008 is expanding!

CE National is excited to offer a new opportunity for youth in addition to our typical annual youth conference.

The Big Mo 2008 will be held Monday July 21-Sunday, July 27, at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. While the starting/ending days of the week are different, the schedule for the week will be very similar to that of Momentum 2007. The week will include a conference-wide Convoy of Hope outreach on Saturday, July 26, in Dayton, Ohio, allowing students to participate in distributing food, planning children's games, running a carnival, and more. Partnering community churches will help to provide free dental checkups and hair cuts.

PAC Mo 2008, which will take place a month earlier in California, is tentatively set to run from Tuesday, June 24 – Sunday, June 29. Read more...

412 Students Arrive Tuesday at CE National

The 2007-2008 year of 412 is about to begin. The 412 Commission is based on I Timothy 4:12, "Let no one look down on you because you are young, but be an example..."

During the week many people will challenge our students. Speakers planning to share include Jim Brown on the local church and evangelism, Dan Gregory on Leadership Development from I & II Timothy, Dr. John Davis on The Bible is True, John Smith (Willow Valley Pennsylvania) on an overview of the Scriptures, and Ed Lewis, Executive Director of CE National.

The weekend will include a trip to Granger Community Church, the new South Bend Grace Brethren church plant, and an outreach opportunity at the University of Notre Dame.

Children's Cabinet Filming at Urban Hope This Week

Virginia Meisner, Children's Director at Macedonia, Ohio, Grace Brethren Church, and Jon Rauch, Children's Director at Grace Community Church in Goshen, Indiana, and a group of children from their churches are at Urban Hope this week. The group is filming a new DVD that will benefit children's ministries in evangelical churches. Virginia and Jon both serve on CE National's Children's Cabinet and believe that children can minister.

The DVD is designed to be a follow-up for children who accept Christ. It is the link that many churches need between an evangelistic event and assimilating children into the church. The DVD is no replacement for adults who are needed in the lives of children, but it does enhance the follow-up by using visual aids, not just written materials.

If You're Not Fishing, You're Not Following!

During his message at Momentum 2007, Jim Brown encouraged students not to repel non-Christians but to continually be fishing for men. Jim shared similar a theme when he spoke to DRIVEN and Equip 07. We at CE National are very pleased to see this emphasis on outreach. Jim is a board member of CE National as well as Senior Pastor of Grace Community Church in Goshen, Indiana.

Jim created a blog for people to tell stories about sharing their faith or "moving the numbers" to get people closer to Christ. Jim says that most people need seven gospel touches before they become believers. So when we share our faith it moves people one number closer to actually accepting Christ.
