Momentum Builds Local Church Youth Ministries |

Young Adult Forum at Equip '07 |
Discussion on young adult ministries took place at the Russell Center on Thursday, August 2. Bob Hetzler led the event that included a look at today's young adult characteristics, how to program for reaching them, and some resources for building relationships and small groups. |
Operation Barnabas Weekend for Middle Adults? |
The Halftime Cabinet, a group especially focused on middle adult ministries, is preparing for a new type of ministry experience. If middle adults do not catch the fact that they need to be "on mission," they will buy into a materialistic viewpoint of life that is focused on comfort, pleasure, and themselves. As a result, the Halftime Cabinet is proposing weekends for adults to go to a church to be encouragers for outreach, service, and living authentic, Christian lives. The first weekend that the Halftime group will serve is September 7-9 in Dallas Center, IA, in order to be encouragers to people in that congregation. Some of their weekend activities include such things as painting, cleaning, visiting, gardening and cooking. But the real focus will include relationship building. Halftime members will stay in homes of the congregation and will work side-by-side with other adults doing projects. Throughout the weekend the Halftime Cabinet will be sharing testimonies and will even have a separate session for men and women during the Sunday School hour in order to share stories from their lives. The Sunday morning service will be led by the Halftime group. It is our prayer that this will be a stimulus for renewal among believers, encouraging them to have a heart for ministry. Hopefully this model will expand to encourage other middle adults to do this type of ministry in their own regions of the country. This last week the Halftime Cabinet had a planning session was held at the Barnabas Center where they met with Randy and Dena Todd from the Dallas Center church.
