"No American community has had to face rebuilding
after a
catastrophe on the scale of Hurricane Katrina"
Gulfport Mayor Brent Warr
The University of Southern Mississippi, the site for this year’s Momentum youth conference (formerly Brethren National Youth Conference) was chosen for one sole purpose-to help with the re-building of the Gulf Coast after Katrina. So this year, Momentum will include familiar things such as great speakers, excellent worship music, in-depth teaching with Power Trax and seminars, daily outreach, NAC and Bible Quizzing events, Operation Barnabas programs, and a huge Hattiesburg Blitz on the beautiful University of Southern Mississippi campus.
But, we have given the week’s schedule an extreme makeover to include some very new things. Momentum will mobilize 500 people a day to Gulfport, Mississippi, to do Katrina restoration projects. Read more...

Does Your Sermon Need Some Spice?
In order to connect to the hearts and minds of our media-driven culture, sometimes a relevant and quality video can drive home the point or application of your message. I think Jesus would probably do the same. He mastered the art of communication with the methods available in His day (see Matthew 13:34).
If you're looking for some illustrative or applicational help for an upcoming message series, here are some websites to check out. Read more...

Grace College, First To Endorse Momentum |
CE National is pleased to announce that various organizations who believe in the importance of Momentum (BNYC) are standing with us in endorsing the conference through active participation and financial assistance. These organizations are called co-sponsors and will have the opportunity to address the conference during a main session.
Grace College is our first co-sponsor. Ken Moyer, Dean of Enrollment, is happy to have Grace College partner with CE National in reaching and discipling young people through Momentum. CE National is delighted for this reciprocal relationship since both organizations are concerned about building spiritual leadership. |
Joshua Molina Update |
 |
News has come to CE National that the new heart that Joshua Molina has received is working well. In fact, Josh is doing quite well for a 10-year-old who is house-bound. He is being home-schooled and is making wonderful progress. Thanks for your prayers.
Joshua is a regular attender of the Norwalk, California Grace Brethren Church where Wayne Ayer is pastor. |
Why Churches Should Divide Older Adults Into Two Groups |
- People are living longer and are living healthy, productive lives. In the U.S. almost half the population is over 50.
- Ministry to older adults should not be primarily "care" ministries. Older adults need to be mobilized to "serve" rather than just be "served." (Psalm 71:18) Read more...

Using Good Friday Instead of Losing Good Friday? |
Good Friday traditionally is known as a day to remember Christ's death. What a tremendous milestone for every believer. But are we losing the impact of that day? Few churches have special services and most businesses go on as usual. Let's make every attempt to use Good Friday as an opportunity to reflect on what Jesus did for us by His death on the cross.
-
If you do need to work, take along a Bible and read the story of Jesus' death and resurrection at lunch with a few co-workers.
-
Watch the excellent "Matthew" video or the "Passion of the Christ" movie.
-
Attend a Good Friday church service in your community if there is one.
-
Talk with your family around the dinner table about Christ's sacrifice.
CE National's offices will be closed on Good Friday. In the morning, the staff will take time for personal reflection in the Word followed by watching the Matthew video from chapters 27 and 28. This has become a tradition at CE National.
We trust you will have a wonderful weekend not only remembering Christ's death, but thanking Him for the power of the resurrection.
Happy Easter from the staff at CE National!
