About CE National

What Does the “CE”  Stand for in CE National?

We have been told that there are some who have thought we are a cement company…, but really CE National is a “Church Effectiveness” Office.

This ministry office, based in Winona Lake, Indiana, was formed in 1966 when the Grace Brethren Sunday School Board and the Youth Board came together to become known as GBC Christian Education.  Some may even remember the logo:  three green leaves that stood for Christian Education, Youth, and Church Growth.

In 1991, the Board of Directors approved the changing of the name to CE National.   For years, the “CE” has been known to represent “Christian Education.”  In today’s society,  that terminology is often confused with Christian Schools, hence the effort to make more clear the purpose of this ministry organization.

Some mistakenly believe that CE National just oversees and has input into youth ministries.  While we are certainly proud of the opportunity we have to be a catalyst in working with young people and ministry to and with them, this Church Effectiveness office is much broader in scope. The purpose of CE National  is to “impact the church by serving as a catalyst for biblically accurate and culturally relevant ministries to children, youth and adults.”  Youth ministry?  Absolutely!  Children’s ministry?  No doubt.  Adult ministry.  No question.

CE National is happy to exist to assist churches and individuals be as effective as possible through ministry training, ministry opportunities, providing resources, and the networking of individuals and ministries.  We invite you to look through our website.  If there is anything we can do to be of assistance to you and your ministry, please let us know!  Email cenational@cenational.org or call 574.267.6622.
